Coffee flower ‘hunting’ spots in the Central Highlands

Coffee flowers in the Central Highlands bloom for about a week. Tourists should consult a local guide or arrive at the exact time the flowers bloom in each region.

The coffee flower season lasts from January to early April every year, with two to three bursts of bloom, each lasting 7-10 days, then withers and results. According to Mr. Anh Tuan, representative of Dam San Tourism Company in Buon Ma Thuot City, there are a few things to note when traveling to the Central Highlands on this occasion.

Due to differences in climate, flower blooming time in each province will be different. Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak and Pleiku City, Gia Lai and surrounding areas are places with the largest coffee growing area and the most blooming flowers.

Destinations with many coffee flowers in Buon Ma Thuot: Trung Nguyen coffee village, Ban Don tourist center, Troh Bu garden eco-tourism area, Lak lake, Jun village.

Points in Gia Lai: Ia Grai, Ia Pa, Krong Pa, Bien Ho, road to Chu Dang Ya volcano.

Points in Kon Tum: Dak Ha district, Dak Glei district, Tu Mo Rong, Kon Plong, road to Mang Den.

Locations in Dak Nong: suburbs of Gia Nghia city (Dak Nia commune, Dak R’Moan commune), Thuan Hanh commune (Dak Song district).

To take beautiful photos of coffee flowers, you should choose the time in the morning (before 10am) or at sunset when the sunlight shines obliquely. You should choose clothes that avoid white to stand out.

Typical dishes of the Central Highlands: Red vermicelli, leaf salad, grilled spring rolls, grilled chicken with bamboo-tube rice, two-bowl pho, beef in one sun, two dew… Coffee in the Central Highlands is very unique, visitors should not miss it.

The Central Highlands has two airports: Buon Ma Thuot and Pleiku. Visitors can choose to fly to these airports and then travel by road.

Coach and bus routes are also very popular to reach the Central Highlands from major cities.

Within major cities in the Central Highlands and surrounding areas, motorbikes can be rented to travel at prices ranging from 100,000 VND to 200,000 VND per day, depending on the type of vehicle.

“If you travel by motorbike, it will be easier to access many coffee hills and also convenient to take photos along the way,” Mr. Tuan advised.
