Kon Tum wooden church

The wooden church, officially known as Kon Tum Cathedral, is made entirely of red wood, a type of red oak tree that grew abundantly in the Central Highlands in the past. Skilled artisans from Binh Dinh and Quang Ngai are the ones who created this project.

The ceiling, walls, and walls of the church are built of soil mixed with straw, without using reinforced concrete or lime mortar, the wooden panels are completely bonded together with tenons.

The wooden church is designed according to Roman architecture and the stilt house architecture of the Ba Na people. Therefore, this project is a perfect combination of Western culture and the indigenous culture of ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands.

Our Lady of the Black Mountain

The 4D4N interline tour also takes tourists to visit the statue of Our Lady of Fatima (or Our Lady with one arm). This is a statue carved after the statue of Our Lady of Fatima donated by Father Thomas Le Thanh Anh.

This statue was brought to Mang Den by helicopter by a priest. The statue was erected on a simple pillar in mid-1971. In 1974, firepower during the Vietnam War destroyed the Mang Den outpost, so the statue was also more or less damaged and abandoned.

The statue of Our Lady of Mang Den is made of reinforced concrete about 1 meter high, placed on a cement pedestal with pebbles. The body of the statue has the appearance of Our Lady of Fatima, but the restored head has the appearance of a Central Highlands woman.

Although the hand was restored, it was later kept in its original amputated shape. Amidst the mountainous landscape, surrounded by many flowers and rows of stone benches, with signs saying “Thanks to Our Lady”, the statue appears with a sacred look.
