Tourists flock to “Da Lat 2” to see cherry blossoms

In the days leading up to Tet, thousands of people in Kon Tum province and neighboring provinces flocked to Mang Den town (Kon Plong district, Kon Tum) to see cherry blossoms. At this time, the whole town of Mang Den was “dyed pink” by cherry blossoms. On both sides of the road into town are hundreds of cherry blossom trees “blooming” under the golden sunlight.

Seen from a distance, cherry blossoms have a charming and elegant beauty. The reason it is called cherry blossom is because the flower has five petals similar to yellow apricot blossom, to distinguish it from the cherry blossoms of Japan and Korea. Now, when mentioning cherry blossoms, people often think of the land of Mang Den, which always has a mild, cool climate all year round like Da Lat. That’s why this place is also known as “Da Lat 2”.

In particular, visitors to Mang Den can not only see cherry blossoms but also visit many tourist attractions: Dak Ke Lake Tourist Area, Dam Bri Lake, Pa Sy Waterfall… In Kon Plong district, there are 27 hotels, motels, and homestays, but they are almost out of rooms.

According to information from the People’s Committee of Kon Plong district, the total number of tourists coming to the area in 2020 is 157,000, revenue from tourism in the area is about 37 billion VND. Room occupancy rate at accommodation service businesses is about 40%.
