Kon Tum – summer moments

My memories are of the summer in the mountain town with golden sunshine, noisy winds, sudden rains, and… surprisingly beautiful moments.

The gateway to the city center is the bridge over the Dak Bla River. This is the only river in Vietnam that flows backwards, while Vietnam’s rivers and streams flow from West to East.

Early morning in Kon Klor village. The smooth green carpets of rice and corn evoke the beauty of the quiet and peaceful life of the indigenous people here.

Even though it is in the middle of the city center, you can still see images of beautiful, simple small houses hidden under cool, green trees.

Summer in the mountain town is also the season for flowers to show off their radiant beauty

Pure, beautiful white dragon fruit flowers. This plant is very easy, only needs a small branch, lives on large trees such as: longan, guava, mother of pearl, etc. Often grown by Kon Tum indigenous people in villages such as: Kon Ro Bang, Plei To Nghia, Plei Don…

Polyscias fruticosa flowers are planted along major roads in the city such as Phan Dinh Phung, Phan Chu Trinh, Tran Phu, etc. The purple color makes this small city romantic and dreamy like smog.

Hoang Yen Snakehead, also known as Queen Snakehead or Golden Osaka, Water Scorpion. It is a flower of Latin American origin but was brought and planted in Kon Tum for a long time. In the early days of summer, the mountain town bursts into life with this elegant, radiantly beautiful flower.
