Chu Mom Ray National Park was established by the Prime Minister on the basis of reclassification from Chu Mom Ray Nature Reserve with a total area of ​​56,257.16 hectares located in 2 districts Sa Thay and Ngoc Hoi of the province Kon Tum. This is the only National Park of Vietnam located adjacent to two neighboring countries namely Laos and Cambodia. Right next to Chu Mom Ray National Park is Cambodia’s Virachey National Park and Laos’s Southeast Ghong Protected Area (PA). The forest area of ​​this entire area is about 700,000 hectares, forming a large transnational protected area, of particular importance for biodiversity conservation in Indochina and Southeast Asia.

In 2004, with the value of biodiversity, genetic resources of rare animals and plants, Chu Mom Ray National Park was recognized by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations as an ASEAN heritage park. The rich resources at Chu Mom Ray National Park are not only important for biodiversity conservation, but are also considered a potential tourism resource.

According to the Chu Mom Ray National Park Management Board, tourism activities will be managed and operated fairly and transparently in terms of information and benefits among relevant parties. In particular, focus on promoting the socialization of resources in mobilizing investment and exploiting tourism in the Park, thereby ensuring financial resources to serve the conservation and development of tourism in Chu Mom Ray National Park. .

Revenue from tourism will be used to reinvest in forest management, protection and development activities and biodiversity conservation in the National Park. “With the goal set in the period 2021 – 2025, Chu Mom Ray National Park will have a revenue source from forest environment rental activities of about 100 million VND/year and 1 billion VND/year in the period 2026 – 2030. This will be the source of revenue. A large and stable annual budget to maintain the national park’s forest management and conservation activities contributes to reducing budget investment for forest management and conservation activities,” a representative of the Management Board of Chu Mom Ray National Park affirmed.
